This historic home, built in 1758 by Captain Gregory Purcell, was operated as a guest house by Purcell's bride after his death. Captain John Paul Jones lived in the house in 1777, while the Ranger was being outfitted and again in 1781 while the ship America was being built. Many fine displays of period antiques and a beautiful garden are offered for pleasureable viewing.
