The Robert Frost Farm, located outside
Derry, in
Rockingham County, was the poet's home from 1900-1911. While on this remote farm, Frost, one of the nation's most acclaimed poets, wrote portions of his first three books. Frost, his wife Elinor and their four children lived in a typical New England, two-story, white clapboard, farmhouse built in 1884. Several small paintings downstairs are the work of Mrs. Frost's sister.
In 1906, Frost secured a position to teach English at Derry's Pinkerton Academy. In 1909, the Frosts rented an apartment in Derry Village to be closer to the Academy.
The Grinnell Trail, which is open to the public, runs south of Island Pond Road and connects to the Robert Frost Farm nature trail. Shaftsbury, VT was also home to Robert Frost.
