Strawberry Banke Museum |
Strawbery Banke Museum recreates life in the Puddle Dock neighborhood of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, over 300 years. Each of nine furnished houses and period gardens on the 10-acre site introduces a different era in American history. Six exhibit houses also show tools, building methods and archeology. The museum draws more than 65,000 visitors each year. Strawbery Banke got its name from the wild berries settlers found on the banks of the Piscataqua River in 1630. The town changed its name to Portsmouth in 1653.
