The Borough of Lavallette is located in Ocean County, in the Shore Region. It is located off the east coast of central New Jersey on a strip of land separated from the mainland by Barnegat Bay and extending from Bay Head in the north about 20 miles to the tip of Island Beach State Park in the south. There are eight protected ocean beaches for swimming, along with designated beaches for surfing and surf fishing. There are two beaches on Barnegat Bay for those who prefer calmer water.
