The city of
Union City, located in
Hudson County, is home to Liberty Hall, built in 1772 for the prominent New York lawyer, William Livingston. Livingston also was a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1774, 1775, and 1776, and then from that point served as the first Governor of New Jersey, until his death in 1790.
The house was passed down for many generations from family member to family member. Each member of the family seemed to add onto the house in one way or another. They added rooms, artwork, or whatever they could.
Today the Hall has been declared a National Historic Landmark. It shows generations of reality, energy, and visions.
