University Medical Center at Princeton is a 310-bed, acute care, teaching hospital that serves as a teaching affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Residents in medicine and surgery spend half of their training time at the University Medical Center providing care and participating in a team effort to make available the latest medical knowledge and techniques. The hospital provides a wide range of medical and surgical services on an inpatient, outpatient, and emergency basis. Founded in 1919, University Medical Center is the only independent hospital in Mercer County. On an annual basis there are more than 14,000 admissions to the hospital and 30,000 patient visits to the Emergency Department.
