From its beginnings in 1867, St Michaels evolved from a 13-bed clinic on Bleecker St to its present 357-bed facility complex as a renowned regional primary care, teaching, and research center. This medical center is one of a group of hospitals forming the Health Corporation of the Archdiocese of Newark.
As a major teaching affiliate of several hospitals, Saint Michaels offers residencies in cardiology, critical care, emergency medicine, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious diseases, nephrology, rheumatology, pulmonary medicine, podiatry, and obstetrics/gynecology.
