Museum of Early Trades and Crafts |
This museum displays selections from the area's largest collection of the handsome tools once used by craftsmen--cabinetmakers, hornsmiths, ironworkers, cobblers, opticians, surveyors among others--and by women to cook and bake, make candles, concoct medicines, spin wool, stencil wall decorations and sew clothes. In addition to the reconstructed schoolroom adapted from the Madison Academy (1809-1881), a full-size colonial kitchen, completely equipped, shows the center of family life in those past times.
