The Raritan River in New Jersey stretches for 85 miles, rising in central New Jersey and flowing SE to the Raritan Bay, supplies water to the Spruce Run and Round Valley resevoirs. It is New Jersey's largest river and has many tributaries coming off of it such as: South River, Millstone River, Crow's Mill Creek, Red Root Creek, and Green Brook.

In 1960 the Raritan River was an industrial sewer, and many companies dumped their chemicals in it. Today it is full of fish, birds, and wildlife, because of clean-up efforts enacted.
