Tucker's Island Lighthouse, located in
Tuckerton Seaport, across from Lake Pohatcong, in
Ocean County, was originally built 50 feet above sea level in 1848, with a fourth order Fresnel lens, but fell into the
Atlantic Ocean in 1927. A replica of the original lighthouse was built in 1999 and sends a beam of six red flashes, followed by one white flash that can be seen twelve miles out to sea.
The replica of Tucker's Island Lighthouse stands as the centerpiece of the Tuckerton Seaport. At this site, you can visit the Interpretive Center--which contains displays, artifacts, and antique photos of the settlement by the sea. At the museum, exhibits about lighthouses of the Jersey Shore and their keepers are displayed along with the Museum's permanent collections.
