The village's beginnings in the 1740s, in
Warren County, revolved around the Andover Forge, a major supplier of armaments for the
Continental Army. The village is preserved as a living-history museum. Costumed guides and artisans explain 18th- and 19th-century life in 14 historic buildings, including a stagecoach inn, a general store, a church, a gristmill and a blacksmith's shop.
The Lenape/Delaware way of life is depicted at Winakung, a life-size reconstruction of a Minisink Indian village. Phone or check website for hours of operation.
