Bernalillo is in Sandoval County , and in the Central New Mexico region (of which it is the county seat). Located just north of Albuquerque between Alameda and Santa Fe along Interstate 25 on the banks of the Rio Grande River near the Zia Indian Reservation.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 7,570, an increase of 1,706 since 1990.
