Elida is in
Roosevelt County, and in the
Southeast New Mexico region. You can find Elida located on US Hwy 70 southwest of
Portales.
Elida was settled around 1903, predating Portales as an organized town and trading center for local ranches. There are many commercial entities located on its historic town square. Today it is in the center of New Mexicos fast growing dairy industry.
