Manzano in in
Torrance County, and in the
Central New Mexico region. This community is southeast of
Albuquerque off Highway 60.
Settlement dates from November 28, 1829.
MANZANA. MANZANO. Near this town, on NM 10, 15 mi NW of Mountainair, are two old apple orchards, which tradition claims were planted during the mission period before 1676. But Dr. Florence Hawley Ellis, University of New Mexico, dates the trees, from ring growth, as no earlier than 1800.
