Artesia General Hospital officially opened in September 1939 under a lease agreement between the city of
Artesia and Mr. Merle Walker Johns.
Artesia General Hospital is currently licensed for 34 acute care beds and is staffing 20 with an average daily census of 7.6. Services available include acute medical and surgical inpatient and outpatient services, a diabetic outreach program, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Nutritional Counseling and a lifeline program for seniors. In addition, the hospital participates with the meals on wheels program in preparing all the meals delivered.
