Melrose is in
Curry County, and in the
Southeast New Mexico region. You can locate Melrose on US Hwy 60 west of
Clovis.
Melrose was named, after a town in Ohio, by Santa Fe Railroad officials in 1906. Before the coming of the railroad, the settlement was called Brownhorn because it was halfway between the Brown and Horn ranches. Melrose remains a ranching and farming community.
