Mosquero is in
Harding County, and in the
Northeast New Mexico region. Mosquero is located off of State Hwy 39, and
Tucumcari.
Mosquero started as a settlement for the construction of the Dawson Railway in 1906. This stretch of rail was built from Tucumcari to the coal fields in Dawson by the Southern Pacific Railroad. During the 1920s and 1930s dry ice was produced her because of the presence of the Bravo Dome, a huge carbon dioxide gas field beneath Harding County. Today Mosquero is primarily a cattle ranching community.
