Lamoille Canyon Road

The Ruby Mountains are Nevada's wettest, and therefore most verdant, mountain range. Follow the winding road around the base of 11,249 foot Ruby Dome, up the glacially formed Lamoille Canyon.

Along the way are overlook spots with interpretive signs explaining how the serpentine Valley was carved. The view of the surrounding forested canyons is magnificent, with fall foliage and springtime waterfalls adding seasonal color.

At the end of the 13 and a half mile paved road, at the 8,800-foot level, is a parking area and trailheads, for long and short hikes. More than 100 miles of hiking trails take you through gorgeous mountain scenery.
