Carson-Tahoe Hospital opened in 1949 with one doctor, three nurses, an X-ray technologist, laboratory technologist, a cook and a janitor. Today, Carson-Tahoe hospital has on staff approximately 160 physicians, with areas of specialty ranging from Cardiology and Neurology to Plastic and Micro-surgery.
The hospital offers an innovative Women & Children's Center (opened in 1997), an expanded Carson Rehabilitation Center, a renovated and improved Surgical Unit and Emergency Room, and the latest diagnostic technologies with the additions of Filmless Imaging and Nuclear Medicine. It also serves the growing Carson Valley, Minden/Gardnerville, and Tahoe areas with its Minden Medical Center, and expanded programs and services.
