Steak House, The

Located 34 miles south of Las Vegas near the border, at Gold Strike, this is a tiny gourmet restaurant. It's definitely a must if you're staying in Jean or Stateline. The dining room is cozy and intimate, with large red booths, and a wood-panel ceiling and lots of candlelight. The menu features steaks, lobster, seafood and chicken dishes; chateaubriand bouquetiere for two, the house specialty, is carved right at the table. Hotel guests get a free glass of wine with dinner.

Closed: Monday, Tuesday and reservations recommended.
