Yerington is located in
Lyon County (of which it is the county seat), southeast of Reno along Highway 208 on the banks of the Walker River near Artesia Lake and the Weber Reservoir.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,609, an increase of 242 since 1990.
