Bay Shore is located in Suffolk County east of New York City near Fire Island between Islip and Babylon along Highway 27A near Hecksher and Captree State Parks. Bay Shore is on the Great South Bay and located in the Southern Region. Bay Shore is part of the Nassau-Suffolk, New York metro area. It was developed as a tourist destination after ferry service to Fire Island began in the mid-1800s.
