Bellport is located in
Suffolk County east of
New York City on the Great South Bay near St Joseph College's Suffolk campus. It is in the
Southern Region of the state. Bellport is part of the
Nassau-Suffolk, New York metro area.
It was named after the brothers Thomas and John Bell who were settlers, and was also the setting for Mary Roberts Rinehart's book, "The Red Lamp".
