Cooperstown is located in
Otsego County 133 miles northeast of
Binghamton and is located in the
Central Region of the state. It lies along Highway 28 on the banks of the Oaks River near Canadarago Lake. Situated on the southern edge of Otsego Lake, Cooperstown is the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
It was named after founder William Cooper, father of author James Fenimore Cooper.
