Deposit is located in
Delaware County 31 miles east of
Binghamton between McClure and Hale along Highway 17 near Cannonsville Reservoir. Deposit is in the
Central Region of the state and part of the
Binghamton, New York metro area.
One tradition says the name stems from this being the place where lumber was deposited until river waters were high enough to allow shipping to Philadelphia.
In addition to timber, early products included cigars, buttons, sleds and glass.
