Hornell is located in
Steuben County 46 miles NW of Corning between Arkport and Canisteo along Highway 36 on the banks of the Canisteo River. It is in the
Western Region of the state.
It was named after George Hornell a settler and Indian trader. Known as a railroad town the Erie also operated its steam locomotive shops here.
