Lima is located in
Livingston County in the
Western Region of the state and is part of the
Rochester, New York metropolitan area.
Lima was founded near the junction of two Indian trails. Well-known residents have included: Belva Lockwood, first woman admitted to practice law in front of the U.S. Supreme Court and two-time presidential candidate.
