Established by the Plattdeutsche Volkvest Verein, an organization of German immigrants, the Medical Center -- then known as the "German Hospital of Brooklyn" -- began operations in 1889. Today, the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center has approximately 509,000 square feet and includes 324 general care beds and 26 newborn bassinets.
