Painted Post is located in
Steuben County on the NW edge of Corning along Interstate 86 (old 17) on the banks of the Cohocton River in the
Western Region of the state.
It was named after a red-painted oaken post that once was here. Well-known residents have included: John McPherson, cartoonist.
