Patchogue

Patchogue is located in Suffolk County and is part of the Nassau-Suffolk, New York metropolitan area in the Southern Region of the state.

One tradition says the community was named for an Indian tribe; another says it derives from an Indian term for "turning place" or "where they divide in two," referring to two rivers. Patchogue was once a lace-manufacturing center and grew as a summer resort until the advent of the automobile.
