Established in 1844, this is a public institution conferring undergraduate degrees in humanities and fine arts, science and math, social and behavioral sciences, business, public policy, education, and social welfare. There are 5 undergraduate schools and 8 graduate schools. The 560 acre campus is in a suburban area about 5 miles west of downtown
Albany. Including residence halls there are 90 buildings.
