Webster is located in
Monroe County just east of
Rochester along Highway 250 near Lake Ontario in the
Western Region of the state. Webster is part of the
Rochester, New York metro area.
It was named after Daniel Webster, orator and statesman. Webster grew as a point on the Oswego-Rochester stagecoach line and Xerox, then called Haloid, built its manufacturing plant here in 1955.
