Brookville is located in southwestern Ohio in northwestern Montgomery County about 10 miles northwest of Dayton just south of I-70. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 4,950, an increase of 342 since 1990.

Area outdoor recreation includes trips to Sycamore State Park just southeast of town.

Other points of interest include the USAF Museum on the Wright-Patterson AFB grounds in Dayton.
