Butler is located in the [znorthea] of the state, in [y39139] about 45 miles northeast of [columbus], 15 miles north-northeast of [mountver] and 10 miles south-southeast of [mansfiel]. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 924, a decrease of 44 since 1990.
The town is conveniently located near several recreation areas including [mohicasp] and [mohicasf] less than 10 miles to the east, [pleahila] about 5 miles to the northeast and Clear Fork Ski Area a stone's throw from the town's northeastern limits.
