Canal Winchester is located in central Ohio in Franklin County on Columbus's southeastern flank. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,380, an increase of 763 since 1990.The town is about 15 statute miles from Buckeye Lake and its many diversions. In addition, Hargus Lake and A. W. Marion State Park are about 15 miles south of town.
