Chardon is located in northeastern Ohio in Geauga County (of which it is the county seat) about 25 miles east northeast of Cleveland on the banks of the Chagrin River.
Area recreation includes trips to Alpine Valley Ski Resort about 5 miles southwest of town, Headlands Beach State Park, 10 miles north on the shores of Lake Erie and East Branch Reservoir, 5 miles to the southeast.
Golfers are offered a veritable smorgasbord of courses from which to select their round du jour including Pleasant Hill Golf Course, a public 27-hole complex where one can mix-and-match any 2 nines, Chardon Lakes Golf Course, a public 18-holer, Legend Lake Golf Club, a private club with a reciprocal guest agreement and St. Denis Golf Course, another public 18-hole facility.
