Coolville is located in southeastern Ohio in southeastern
Athens County about 75 miles southeast of
Columbus, 15 miles southeast of
Athens and 5 miles inland from the
Ohio River on the southern edge of the
Wayne National Forest. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 671, an increase of 8 since 1990.
Additional outdoor activities take place around Dow Lake and Strouds Run State Park about 5 miles east of Athens as well as Veto Lake about 15 miles northeast of town.
