Elyria is located in northern Ohio in
Lorain County (of which it is the county seat) 25 miles southwest of
Cleveland and 10 miles south of
Lake Erie. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 56,278, a decrease of 468 since 1990.
Golfers have a nice choice of 5 courses in the area including Deer Track Golf Club and Forest Hills Golf Course, both public 18-hole courses; Elyria Country Club and Spring Valley Country Club, both private clubs but with reciprocal guest agreements for members of other clubs and Cherry Ridge Country Club, a public 9-hole configuration.
