Grand Rapids is located in northwestern Ohio in Wood County 25 miles southwest of Toledo on the southern banks of the Maumee River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,018, an increase of 63 since 1990.
This small town has revitalized itself in that it has restored a section of the old Miami & Erie Canal complete with canal boats pulled by mules. Many of the towns structures are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
