Interstate 271 allows a hookup and shortcut between
I-71 and
I-90 bypassing
Cleveland's busy downtown area on the city's east side. It Leaves I-71 northeast of
Medina and travels in a generally curving path to the notheast and then in a northerly direction linking up with I-90 near
Waite Hill. The highway intersects with
I-77 near
Richfield,
I-80 just a few miles later near
Boston Heights and shares about 5 miles of highway with
I-480 near
Northfield.
