Brentwood Hospital traces its roots to 1957, its merger with Meridia Health System created South Pointe Hospital and established the Brentwood Foundation. The Brentwood Foundation is a charitable trust dedicated to the promotion and advancement of education, research, patient care and charity care in the field of osteopathic medicine.
In 1995, South Pointe Hospital became a member of the CORE (Center for Osteopathic Regional Education), a consortium affiliated with OU-COM. The CORE is the nation's largest, most advanced and best supported medical education consortium. The system is made of 13 osteopathic teaching hospitals throughout Ohio, which offer a blend of internship and residency opportunities, state-of-the-art educational technology and structured exposure to osteopathic principles and practices.
One of the most recent developments the hospital made was the expansion of the Emergency and Radiology Departments, which took place in March, 1997. The department now features 20 treatment rooms, including rooms for trauma and pediatric emergencies. In 1998, the hospital completed construction of a state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Center. South Pointe Hospital is committed to excellence in patient care, community service and osteopathic medical education.
