Mentor is located in northeastern Ohio in Lake County 25 miles northeast of Cleveland just off the shores of Lake Erie.Higher education can be found at Lake Erie College about 5 miles northeast of town while Lakeland Commuitity College is 5 miles to the south. Headlands Beach State Park provides outdoor recreation and is located about 5 miles to the northeast. The Black Brook Country Club, a public 18-hole course, invites golfers to challenge its layout. Local attractions include the James A. Garfield National Historic Site.
