Oregon is located in northwestern Ohio in
Lucas County just east of
Toledo on the banks of the
Maumee River and the
Maumee Bay portion of
Lake Erie. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 19,136, an increase of 802 since 1990.
The town's ideal location brought industry to the area when British Patroleum and Sun Marketing located their refineries here circa 1900. A coal powered electrical generating facility and several chemical plants were later added to the mix.
Recreation is right out the front door in the form of Maumee Bay State Park. Also within easy driving distance is Crane Creek State Park located about 10 miles east of town on the Big Lake.
Eagle's Landing and Maumee Bay State Park Golf Course offer golfers an opportunity to enjoy the challenge of top quality courses and get some excercise in at the same time.
