Scioto River |
The Scioto River rises in western Ohio near the Auglaize County/Hardin County line just north of the Logan County line.
The river begins its journey traveling in a northeasterly direction for about 15 miles before heading east-southeast at a point about 5 miles northwest of Kenton. It passes through or near the towns of LaRue and Green Camp where it is joined by the Little Scioto River about 5 miles southwest of Marion.
From there the Scioto heads south to flow through Columbus's west side and turning east in the city to meet the Olentangy River. Upon leaving Columbus the river flows by or through S. Boomfield/Ashville, Circleville, Chillicothe,Waverly and Piketon before emptying into the Ohio River on Portsmouth's west side.
