Steubenville

Steubenville, founded in 1797 and known as the "City of Murals", is located in eastern Ohio in Jefferson County (of which it is the county seat) on the banks of the Ohio River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 5,611, a decrease of 98 since 1990.

For golfers, Belleview Park Golf Course is a 9-hole facility that is open to the public while Steubenville Country Club, built in 1919, is a private club but with a reciprocal guest agreement in place with members of other clubs allowing them to play the 18-hole course.

Recreational outlets include trips to the facilities at Fernwood State Forest about 10 miles southwest of town.
