Akron is state-supported and serves primarily a commuter student body. Founded in 1870, is has a 170-acre campus in
Akron with somewhat under 12,000 full-time undergraduates and an additional 6000 part-timers. About 4000 graduate students also attend. Popular majors include nursing, elementary education, and accounting.
