Wellington is located in northern Ohio in Lorain County 35 miles southwest of Cleveland and 30 miles north-northeast of Mansfield on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Black River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 4,135, a decrease of 5 since 1990. Nearby recreation includes trips to Findley Lake just south of town, Lake Erie 20 miles to the north, Cleveland Lakefront State Park on the city's north side and Cedar Point Amusement Park 30 miles to the northwest. In addition, Echo Valley Golf Club provides the public 18 holes of relaxation.
