Lake Murray

Lake Murray is located south central Oklahoma occupying parts of Carter County and Love County along the east side of Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 77 south of Ardmore. The 5,700-acre lake, created in 1937 when the WPA erected a dam here, has 150 miles of shoreline and is the centerpiece of popular Lake Murray Resort Park, Oklahoma's first. One of the landmarks here is Turner Tower Nature Museum, a 4-story castle-like rock structure originally created as a governors' retreat in the 1930s by the WPA.

Fishing for bass, catfish and crappie plus boating, scuba diving and other water sports all take place on and in this crystal-clear lake.

Facilities include a full-service marina, camping sites--some with full hook-ups, some with partial hook-ups and some tent sites--a lodge and over 80 cabins.
