The cathedral is the oldest surviving church in Ottawa. It is located on the site that was occupied by the first Catholic chapel open to both anglophones and francophones of Bytown. The cathedral took almost 50 years to build. Features include painted and carved neo-Gothic interior, stained-glass windows, a gilded statue of the Madonna and child, and more.
