This museum, located in a former Canadian National Railway Station on Owen Sound's waterfront, contains extensive displays of artifacts, models and photographs relating to the marine and rail transportation of the area. There are also displays relating to the local woodworking, cement and shipbuilding industries that relied on those transportation services. Maritime-related exhibits include the log tug Ancaster which was built in 1951 at Russel Brothers in Owen Sound and was one of two tugs that formerly appeared on the back of the Canadian one-dollar bill. Other artifacts on exhibit include several scale models of Great Lakes ships, marine and railway uniforms, house flags of marine transportation companies, a lifeboat from the Paul Evans, dug-out and birch bark canoes, and items from the corvette HMCS Owen Sound. The Museum also has a collection of charts, timetables, books and photographs that is available to researchers.
